The Melbourne Royal Art, Craft & Cookery Competition

This year we will be celebrating 175 years since Melbourne Royal commenced, and to commemorate this occasion, we invite you to join us in the celebrations by entering the 2023 Melbourne Royal Art, Craft & Cookery Competition to compete for a coveted blue ribbon. Whether you’re a master of millinery, an avid baker or you just want to ‘have a go’ at being creative; with over 470 classes in this year’s competition there is a perfect class for every piece. Art, Craft and Cookery exhibitors continue to innovate and inspire with their creations and with over $50,000 in prizes on offer, it’s time to put your skill to the test! Situated in the heart of the Showgrounds, the Makers Pavilion is one of most popular attractions at the Melbourne Royal Show. Your work could be displayed and viewed by over 500,000 visitors. The Art, Craft and Cookery Competition’s new challenges include:

  • Beading Classes Beading is back with a bang! This is your chance to shine.

  • Upcycling and Repurposing Classes for Juniors Breathe new life into old pieces and transform them into something new.

  • Innovation Cake Classes Think outside the cake box and dazzle us with your decorating skills.

Live Judging After its successful introduction, the live-judging competition has expanded to include Decorated Cakes and Junior Repurposed Fashion. Enter now for your chance to see your work being judged live on stage! Spread the warmth with KOGO Be a part of this free and open class, joining the movement to “knit one, give one”. All entries will be donated to those in need of a warm garment for winter! ENTER NOW! You may even bring home that coveted blue ribbon in 2023!
