Early works on tram network improvements in Epsom and Union roads will begin Wednesday 29th October.
The works involve:
the renewal of tram tracks
construction of a new level-access platform stop on Union Road at Epsom Road to accommodate G-Class trams, which will be operational in coming years.

An outline of the construction timeline is below:
Early works:
Service investigation works - Wednesday October 29 to Friday October 31 (9am- 3pm)
Union Road stop 33
Epsom Road (Union Road to Ascot Street)
24-hour rail welding work – 9pm Thursday 6 November – 5pm Friday 14 November
Major works:
Replacing tram tracks and road surface in sections
Building a new level-access tram stop
24-hour works from 10pm Friday 14 November to 4.30am Monday 1 December
Epsom Road (Langs Road to Ascot Street)
Union Road (Epsom Road to Bloomfield Road)
Traffic and transport impacts
Lane and intersection closures, with significant noise during the first week of construction. 
Buses will replace trams on Route 57 during major works, and detours will be in place for vehicles, cyclists and pedestrians. 
Pedestrian access to businesses will not be affected (though temporary detours may be in place). 
Noise and dust management 
Construction will occur 24/7 from Thursday 6 November, with high noise levels anticipated initially.  Efforts will be made to minimise disturbances, particularly during the noisiest phases.
